Jason Sposeep has earned the unique reputation of being both a skillful family law litigator and a talented collaborative law attorney.

This is a rare combination, and has cemented this young attorney’s role as one of the most sought-after legal minds in the family law field.

It’s also why Sposeep’s peers have nothing but praise for him.

“As a litigator, he is tenacious and will work tirelessly to accomplish his clients’ goals,” said Beth McCormack, with Chicago law firm Beermann. “As a collaborator, Jason will work effortlessly as a team member while balancing on the tightrope of remaining a strong advocate for his own client.”

Sposeep is a tireless advocate for his clients, and has earned many victories for them. As an example, Sposeep has represented a Fortune 500 executive in a complicated divorce in which he prevailed on custody, child-support and maintenance issues, while also obtaining approval for his client to remove the child in question from Illinois.

He also secured a verdict for his client in a post-divorce maintenance case, relying on a skillfully worded argument that his client’s former wife failed to make a reasonable attempt to rehabilitate herself financially. He also won a recent victory for his client in a case in which an ex-husband was seeking to terminate maintenance.

“Jason consistently provides superior representation and outcomes for his clients,” said Chicago attorney and mediator Jerald Kessler. “He adheres to the highest level of professionalism and ethical conduct. He pays close attention to all details in his cases, and his clients feel comfortable that he is totally familiar with their concerns.”

But Sposeep’s contributions to family law don’t end with the victories he earns for his clients. He is also a champion of alternative dispute resolution.

To retired judge Michele Lowrance, Sposeep’s advocacy of dispute resolution has been a true benefit to divorcing couples.

“He has made the divorce process so much better for so many couples,” Lowrance said.

Hinsdale-based attorney Kathryn Engel praised Sposeep for the work he put in on the redrafting and updating of the Collaborative Law Participation Agreement in 2015. This work has been essential, with Engel saying that the agreement is used among legal professionals in every collaborative case in the state of Illinois.

“His expertise and experience in the collaborative law arena provided him with the authority to do so,” Engel said, on the reason why Sposeep played such a key role in formulating this agreement.

In addition to his work in family law, Sposeep finds time to serve as a fellow at the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois and is the founding co-chair of the Young Alumni Council of Chicago-Kent College of Law. He is also the former senior director of the Young Lawyers Section of the Chicago Bar Association.

“He is truly someone who takes to heart the notion of giving back to his community,” said Tarek Fadel, founder and chief executive officer of Chicago’s AdaptiGroup.
