Candidates in Illinois’ March 18 primary will have a new voting bloc to court — 17-year-olds.
A new law gives 17-year-olds the right to vote in a primary election if they will turn 18 on or before a November general election.
Similar initiatives have previously surfaced with no success. This time, a group of students at Stevenson High School led by teacher Andrew Conneen raised the idea.
Sen. Terry Link, D-Waukegan, sponsored the bill, which was signed into law in May.
