Brain-injury lawsuit settles for $7 million

A suburban man who suffered a traumatic brain injury and multiple bone fractures when he fell off a ladder inside a home he planned to buy has agreed to a $7 million settlement with the builder. In November 2007, Rickie Taylor, then 47, was visiting the house he and his wife planned to purchase in North Aurora. The house was being built by Gladstone Builders and Developers Inc., and at the time of the incident, the Taylors had already visited it on several occasions.
