Censure urged after false statement made in judicial campaign material

A Belleville lawyer accused of knowingly making a false statement about an opponent in a judicial election should be censured, a lawyer-discipline panel recommended. An Attorney & Registration Commission Hearing Board suggested the sanction for Ronald R. Duebbert. A censure is a sanction imposed by the Illinois Supreme Court when the justices believe there has been an ethics violation, but the violation is not of a sufficient nature to warrant suspension or disbarment.
