Badly burned man gets $10.8M verdict in product-liability suit

A Cook County jury has awarded $10.8 million to a man who had more than half of his body burned after concrete-sealer vapors caused an explosion in his home.The jury returned the verdict Wednesday to Andrzej Plizga and his wife, Katarzyna Plizga, who sued the manufacturers of the concrete sealer, the Euclid Chemical Co., in a product-liability case.Andrzej Plizga purchased two 5-gallon containers of Crystal Clear VOC Sealer to seal his home’s concrete basement floor in Bensenville in May 2010.Plizga, his wife and …
