$10M settlement for alleged misdiagnosis

A southwest suburban hospital and two doctors have agreed to pay a $10 million settlement to a paraplegic man due to an allegedly undiagnosed spinal infection.The settlement was reached on behalf of Stephen Schmitz Jr. in his case against Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Centers in Evergreen Park; Andrew Griffin, a radiologist; Griffin’s medical group, Radiology Imaging Specialists Ltd.; and Daniel Philipsborn, an emergency room doctor.The settlement money will allow Schmitz, 37, to buy an accessible home …
