Student fails to prove school-bullying claims

A middle-school student who alleges her teachers and coaches stood by while she was bullied by classmates doesn’t have a claim for a violation of her constitutional rights, a federal appeals court held Monday.The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals declined to revive the lawsuit the student — identified as D.S. — filed against the East Porter County School Corp. in northwest Indiana.D.S. does not have a due process claim against the school district, the court held, citing DeShaney v.
