Section 30 of the Mechanics Lien Act provides a remedy for situations where it looks like the amount of money owed to a contractor won’t be enough to fully pay subcontractors and sub-subcontractors.If the subcontractors or sub-subcontractors perfect mechanics’ liens, and if the owner or lienholders “fear that there is not a sufficient amount coming to the contractor to pay all such liens,” Section 30 authorizes a lawsuit to determine both “the amount due from the owner to the contractor” …

Judge rejects ‘specific patient rule’ in case over false claims, kickbacks
