Bill wants courts to employ digital protection orders

SPRINGFIELD — Lawmakers are calling for the state’s high court to allow orders of protection to be filed and approved electronically.Mirroring a trend toward digitization that the Illinois Supreme Court itself has adopted, legislators are backing a measure that asks the court to let protection orders be filed and approved on the Web.House Bill 6109, sponsored by Rep. Michael P. McAuliffe, would amend the Supreme Court Act to say that the court “may establish” a pilot program for filing such …
