Panel urges suspension after attorney no-show

A hearing board of the Illinois Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission has recommended that an attorney be suspended for six months and until further order of the court after she allegedly failed to represent her client adequately and failed to participate in ARDC proceedings.On Friday, the board filed a recommendation that Jennifer C. Smetters, 43, be suspended in response to a complaint that dates back to her representation of a client in a divorce case beginning in 2010.According to the ARDC complaint …
