Settlements in police misconduct cases OK’d

The Chicago City Council today approved settlements in three lawsuits involving alleged police misconduct, shelling out $4.75 million.The council’s voice vote raises the total amount city lawmakers have paid out to alleged victims of misconduct this year to $19.05 million, according to a spokesman with the city Law Department.The council has already signed off on 11 settlements related to alleged police misconduct, according to Law Department spokesman Bill McCaffrey.However, the city does not need council approval …
