Cellphone-spying technology now out of bounds for cops

Illinois law enforcement agencies will have between 24 to 72 hours to delete the personal data they have unintentionally captured using cellphone-spying technology.The bill signed into law by Gov. Bruce Rauner on Friday seeks to rein in police departments’ use of “stingray technology” that is used to track cellphone locations by also requiring them to obtain court orders before using it.“This is an area where technology is changing really fast.
