Hearing board urges disbarment over kept funds

A state attorney disciplinary panel has called for a Chicago attorney who allegedly kept his client’s personal-injury settlement funds to be disbarred.An Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission default proceeding hearing board report filed on Nov. 17 details the recommended sanctions against attorney Michael D. Gerhardt, 54, who is listed as a member of Gerhardt & Haskins LLP.The report comes after Gerhardt allegedly received a $20,000 settlement check in one of his client’s personal-injury …
