7th Circuit rejects 35 percent fee award for fired attorneys

A judge failed to conduct a proper analysis before awarding 35 percent of a plaintiff’s recovery to the lawyers he had fired, a federal appeals court held Thursday.The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated U.S. District Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman’s fee award to the attorneys who previously represented Dustan Dobbs.The court did not determine the amount of fees Dobbs owes his former lawyers for pursuing a claim against the manufacturer of an allegedly defective hip implant.The court also did not reject the …
