SPRINGFIELD — Lawmakers approved a bill this week that would give judges discretion to issue probation sentences for certain repeat felony offenders who would face a mandatory prison sentence under the current law.Senate Bill 2872 would also use federal dollars to fund a pilot program for trauma services and expand programming for inmates to receive early release credit.Sen.
