Report: Law firm merger market strong for fourth consecutive year

The market for mergers, acquisitions and combinations of law firms was strong for the fourth consecutive year in 2016, according to a MergerLine report released by the legal consulting company Altman Weil.The report shows there were 85 law firm combinations announced last year, which marks the fourth consecutive year that more than 80 deals were announced. Between 2007-2012, the number of mergers and acquisitions ranged from a high of 70 in 2008 to a low of 39 in 2010.Only five of 2016’s combinations involved Chicago …
