Bill could require warrants to access immigration zones

SPRINGFIELD — Democrats in the state legislature are pushing a bill to create immigration safe zones in response to President Donald Trump’s executive order calling for stricter enforcement of immigration laws.House Bill 426 would set up designated safe zones where state and local law enforcement agencies that are working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement could be denied access without a valid arrest warrant.Areas considered safe zones are public schools, medical facilities and places of worship …
