Death verdict breaks record in Winnebago

A Winnebago County jury issued a $15 million wrongful-death verdict this week, setting a new record for that county, according to data from the Jury Verdict Reporter.The county’s previous highest-reported award was $12 million in a birth-injury case in 2009.The parties entered into a high-low agreement before the verdict with bounds at $2 million and $7 million, meaning the plaintiff estate will receive $7 million in all.That’s still enough to edge out the previously highest-reported wrongful-death settlement …
