Road project stung; judge rules for bee

An endangered species of bumblebee is responsible for halting — at least for the time being — the construction of a highway and toll bridge in Kane County.Ruling from the bench, U.S. District Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman on Monday granted a motion by a project opponent to block the Kane County Department of Transportation from starting construction of the 5.6-mile road.Coleman concluded the danger posed to the habitat of the rusty patched bumblebee outweighs the public’s interest in easing traffic …
