Untreated obstruction leads to $2.5M accord

A man who suffered from multisystem organ failure and other serious injuries following an elective gastric bypass surgery has settled his medical-malpractice suit for $2.5 million.Plaintiff Troy Baker sued Northwestern Memorial Hospital and several physicians involved with his medical care through the procedure in 2014, alleging they failed to timely identify and post-operatively treat a bowel obstruction, which spurred eight corrective surgeries and several hospital stays for more than a year after his initial surgery …
