Judges up protection under bill

SPRINGFIELD — A bill advanced by the Illinois Judges Association that would extend privacy protections to retired and deceased judges and their families passed unanimously out of a House committee today.The bill now goes before the full House for a vote.Senate Bill 1647 would broaden the state law that currently protects only sitting, not deceased or retired, judges from having their personal information, such as cellphone numbers or addresses, posted publicly.Last month, the bill was approved unanimously by the …
