$19M award in fatal Iowa truck crash

A Cook County jury on Thursday awarded more than $19 million to the estate of a man who died in a truck collision on the side of an interstate.Jesse Inman’s estate sued truck companies Howe Freightways Inc. and Hiner Transport LLC in 2012, alleging Howe failed to contact a tow company to help its stalled employee, caused a Hiner-operated semitrailer truck to trigger a multitruck and multifatality collision in September 2011.Howe employee James Langholf was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 near Grinnell, Iowa …
