Conviction upheld for teacher who sexually assaulted student

A state appeals panel last week upheld the conviction of an Southwest Side coach who sexually assaulted one of his 14-year-old students back in 2012.The 1st District Appellate Court on Aug. 22 upheld the conviction of former Ashburn Community Elementary School teacher Idris Bridgeforth, rejecting his arguments that his trial counsel was ineffective.Bridgeforth argued he was prohibited from a fair trial because his attorney never presented evidence that could have shown that he was in physical therapy or not coaching on the …
