Crane strikes worker; jury awards $9.9M

A Cook County jury awarded $9.9 million to a man Thursday who suffered several injuries after a crane struck him while he was working at a steel plant.Plaintiff Frank Russo sued Corey Steel Co. in 2013, alleging one of its employees caused the incident and injuries.Russo charged the employee operating the crane did so in an unsafe manner while the two were working at the Cicero plant in 2013.Russo, 51, was employed by Sievert Electric Service and Sales Co. in Forest Park at the time of the incident.
