County gets $1.85M to shrink jail

Cook County is one of eight counties receiving additional funding through a nationwide program designed to reduce the jail population and divert certain nonviolent offenders from the court system, county officials announced today.At a news conference Wednesday morning at the Dunne County Building, Cook County was awarded a $1.85 million grant from the John D. and Catherine T.
