Fake expenses cause attorney to lose license

A former law firm partner was disbarred by the Illinois Supreme Court after he allegedly received more than $130,000 in fictitious expenses from the firm.The justices disbarred Matthew C. Montgomery on consent. M.R. 27317.While working at Segal, McCambridge, Singer & Mahoney Ltd., Montgomery was required to travel to out-of-state depositions and hearings.Montgomery, whose practice focused on asbestos-related claims, is accused of submitting information to the firm about false travel-related and other expenses that were …
