Judge tosses medical board antitrust claim

A federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit accusing the American Board of Medical Specialties of violating antitrust law with its voluntary program recertifying physicians in their field of practice.In a written opinion, U.S. District Judge Andrea R. Wood held the Association of American Physicians & Surgeons Inc. failed to allege facts supporting its contention that the board is unlawfully reducing the nationwide supply of doctors to treat hospitalized patients and limiting those patients’ access to their own …
