Thomas More Society vows to appeal judge’s decision on abortion funding

SPRINGFIELD — Opponents of a law allowing state dollars to be used on abortions have vowed to appeal a judge’s decision this week that keeps the measure intact.The Thomas More Society, a conservative legal group, along with several anti-abortion organizations and Republican lawmakers sought to delay its implementation, arguing it ran afoul of multiple parts of the Illinois Constitution.But a circuit court judge in Springfield on Thursday dismissed both of the claims.
