City prepared to dish out $20M in settlement for fatal car crash

The families of two men who were killed when an off-duty Chicago police detective drunkenly crashed his car into theirs are set to receive a $20 million settlement from the Chicago City Council next week.Aldermen on the council’s Finance Committee will vote Monday whether to settle the lawsuit brought by the families of Fausto Manzera and Andrew Cazares.Manzera and Cazares were traveling southbound on the Dan Ryan Expressway early on April 10, 2009, when their car got a flat tire.They pulled over to the side of the …
