City council approves four settlements worth $21.8M

The Chicago City Council on Wednesday voted to settle four more lawsuits filed against the city, bringing the number of council-approved settlements in 2018 to eight, worth just over $32 million.Unlike Monday’s Finance Committee meeting, where aldermen spent an hour debating the proposed $20 million payout to the estates of two men killed by a drunken off-duty Chicago police officer, Wednesday’s full council took its vote to approve the settlement without much discussion.Three aldermen — the 15th Ward …
