Law schools benefit from cy pres awards

More than $300,000 left over from a class-action settlement will help three Chicago law schools further their public service programs.University of Chicago Law School, IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and The John Marshall Law School each received a cy pres award of about $104,000, according to a court order issued March 29.The funds stemmed from a 2015 class-action lawsuit on behalf of college student Lijana Shestopal.
