Downstate city can’t use grant money to fight class-action suit

A southern Illinois city cannot rely on the coverage grants from a statewide network of municipalities to cover a class-action lawsuit over towing fees, a state appeals panel ruled.The 4th District Appellate Court on March 30 found that the coverage grants the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association provided for the city of Collinsville would not apply to any damages it could sustain in the ongoing class-action lawsuit.A group of drivers sued the cities of Collinsville, Alton, Granite City and Edwardsville in …
