Jail-death suit earns Loevy firm $3.3M in fees

A federal judge has awarded nearly $3.3 million in fees and expenses to Loevy & Loevy for part of its work in a wrongful-death lawsuit.In a written opinion Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Thomas M. Durkin concluded the firm is entitled to $3,172,650 in fees and just under $106,478 in expenses.Durkin made the award for the firm’s work on Elizabeth Awalt’s claims against Correctional Health Companies Inc. and a subsidiary, Health Professionals Ltd.The companies provide medical services at the Grundy County …
