In 2008, the Illinois General Assembly passed the Biometric Information Privacy Act to regulate the collection, use, safeguarding and storage of biometrics identifiers or information.The act (740 ILCS 14/1, et seq.) defines a biometric identifier as a “retina or iris scan, fingerprint, voiceprint or scan of hand or face geometry.” The act also includes a definition for “confidential and sensitive information,” which includes “genetic markers, genetic testing information, a unique identifier …
