Cook County jurors on Tuesday awarded $47.5 million to the mother of a young boy who suffered anoxic brain damage during a two-minute trip from a post-surgery recovery room to the pediatric floor at St. Alexius Medical Center.But the plaintiff, Erika Lerma, will recover $22.5 million because of a high-low agreement the lawyers entered just minutes before the jury came back from deliberating.
