Richard Gordon plays a key role in one of today’s most watched legal battles: the class-action concussion litigation pending against the National Football League, National Hockey League and National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Gordon sits on a nationwide panel of attorneys representing athletes from the world of professional sports in workers’ compensation claims. While doing this, he has gained an expertise in the impact of traumatic brain injury on athletes and non-athletes alike.
But this high-profile work isn’t the only example of Gordon’s legal talents. His peers say that Gordon has a well-earned reputation as one of the top lawyers in personal injury and workers’ compensation in the Chicago area.
“I have personally seen Richard grow over the last 15 years into an impressive attorney,” said Glenn Fencl, an insurance defense attorney with Chicago’s Johnson & Bell. “Richard has a very bright future ahead, and is sure to be a fixture in the Chicago legal community for many years to come.”
After representing insurance companies against accident victims in state and federal courts early in his career, Gordon opened Gordon Law Offices so he could use his experience and knowledge of insurance company strategy to protect and preserve the dignity and rights of injured individuals.
Gordon’s efforts have earned him the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of his clients.
“I believe that Richard represents the best and brightest of Chicago’s young lawyers,” said Colin Dunn with Chicago’s Clifford Law Offices.
Gordon has also focused on giving back to the community. This became evident in 2013 when Gordon started the Gilbert W. Gordon Scholarship Fund at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. The scholarship, named after Gordon’s father, provides funds to low-income students looking to pursue a law degree. To date, Gordon has raised nearly $50,000 for this cause.
In 2013, Gordon opened Gordon Law Offices, Ltd., a Chicago law firm specializing in complex personal injury lawsuits and workers’ compensation claims.
“What makes Gordon Law Offices unique is Richard’s attention to his clients,” said Miles Beermann with Chicago’s Beermann, Pritikin, Mirabelli, Swerdlove. “I know that Richard blends a savvy litigation approach with straight talk to his clients that results in repeated business and referrals, not to mention impressive results.”
How impressive? In just the three years since Gordon opened Gordon Law Offices, he has earned nearly $10 million in personal injury and workers’ compensation settlements for his clients.
