Commercial litigation

Meghan Tepas has built a thriving commercial litigation practice at one of Chicago's prominent law firms. What's her secret? Her determination and her genuine love of the practice.Tepas' peers say that this driven attorney focuses intently on earning the best results for her clients.

Then there are her problem-solving skills. Tepas' fellow attorneys say that she has developed a knack for resolving even the most complex problems that arise while representing her clients.

It all adds up to a long list of litigation victories and devoted clients.

"She has displayed exceptional talent in advancing her client's interests while maintaining her compassionate approach and an understanding of human nature and how that impacts litigation," said Andrew Maxwell with Hastings Cutoff Group, Ltd.. "There is every indication she will continue to develop her very human, and exceptional, problem-solving skills."

Tepas has earned a reputation, too, for fighting hard for her clients. As her peers say, Tepas will not give up on a case, no matter how many obstacles she faces.

Brad Bergmooser, chief executive officer of Financial Plus Credit Union, has relied on Tepas for key legal advice several times. Tepas, for instance, worked with Bergmooser on a complex litigation matter and impressed Bergmooser with her ability to not only manage the operational aspects of the case, but with the way she quickly digested and analyzed the intricacies of law and regulations at issue.

"Coming up as an associate and now partner in the firm's litigation group, Meghan has done a great job at achieving the necessary day-to-day wins," Bergmooser said. "Beyond that, she's been a key player in some really difficult, seemingly 'no-win' situations and has been able to achieve remarkable outcomes for clients."

Tim Whiting, principal of the Whiting Law Group, was on the opposite side of Tepas on a litigation matter and has said this about Tepas: “Meghan possess a rare blend of high legal acumen and strategic thinking to solve very difficult legal issues.”

When not representing her clients, Tepas finds time to volunteer. She is a volunteer with Dress for Success, a not-for-profit that provides a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help women succeed in the working world. She is also a founding member of the Building Up mentoring program in Chicago.

Tepas' peers say that they expect this young attorney to continue to thrive in the future. She's too driven, intelligent and dedicated to her clients not to succeed, they say.

Michael Scotti of Roetzel & Andress worked with Tepas for six years at Freeborn at Peters said this about Tepas, “Meghan is the type of lawyer I would hire if I were a client in need of legal advice on critical complex business disputes.”
