SPRINGFIELD — Despite Gov. Bruce Rauner’s signing of a bill that provides taxpayer funds for abortions, advocates of the measure attacked Rauner for not signing a nonbinding pledge to protect it.House Bill 40, signed in the fall of 2017, allows the use of tax dollars to cover abortions for those on state employee health insurance and Medicaid.Interest groups and lawmakers called Rauner out for not signing a pledge stating that he would protect the law as it is.It came the morning after President Donald Trump …
