Judge bypasses timeliness statute in cop threat case

A man who claims crooked cops threatened to ruin his life if he reported their wrongdoing has been given the go-ahead to pursue a civil rights lawsuit filed after the statute of limitations expired. In a written opinion, U.S. District Judge Robert W. Gettleman declined to grant summary judgment in favor of the four Chicago officers Robert Cook claims invaded his home and beat him.
