Niro, ‘champion’ of inventors, dies at 73

Although Raymond P. Niro once obtained a whopping $124 million jury award for a client, he didn’t consider that his greatest victory.Instead, Niro pointed with particular pride to his representation of an inventor who sued a Palatine manufacturer for infringing his patent for a data-relay system.The client, who was too ill to travel to Chicago from his home in Pennsylvania for the trial, died about a week after a jury returned a $16 million verdict, Niro said in a 2013 interview.When he called his client with news of …
