Teacher firing upheld for corporal discipline

A state appeals panel on Thursday upheld the dismissal of a Chicago elementary school teacher who used corporal punishment to discipline four students.The 1st District Appellate Court rejected Mario F. Booker’s allegations he was denied due process when the Chicago Board of Education in December 2013 fired him from Andrew Carnegie Elementary School, located in the city’s Woodlawn neighborhood.The 1st District panel also rejected Booker’s assertions that his physical discipline of students were redeemable …
