L.L. Bean class action gets the boot

A proposed class-action lawsuit filed by a customer angered that L.L. Bean Inc. scrapped its lifetime guarantee got the boot Thursday.In a written opinion, U.S. District Judge Robert W. Gettleman threw out the suit Victor Bondi filed against the Freeport, Maine-based maker of duck boots and other outdoor gear.Gettleman held Bondi has no standing under Article III of the U.S. Constitution to pursue his breach-of-warranty and other claims against the company.Bondi filed the action following L.L. Bean’s Feb. 9 …
