New law puts state in charge of drone rules

Drone rules are the state’s responsibility under a new measure signed by Gov. Bruce Rauner.The Republican governor approved a bill to prevent local governments outside Chicago from enacting their own drone laws.Senate Bill 3291, sponsored by Sen. James F. Clayborne Jr. and approved by large majorities in the House and Senate this spring, states that no unit of local government can enact ordinances or resolutions to regulate unmanned aerial vehicles.Clayborne, a Belleville Democrat, could not be reached for comment …
