Suit tossed because officer tried to shoot, not restrain man

A man says one or more Chicago police officers started shooting at him after he freed his car from a snowbank in 2015.The city says an officer opened fire after the man tried to run her over with his car.But on Wednesday, Chief U.S. District Judge Ruben Castillo threw out Giovanni Valle’s lawsuit against the city and one of the officers involved in the incident.Castillo held Valle could not pursue an excessive-force claim because the officers didn’t try to physically restrain him.
