Lawmakers have enacted new rules to relax requirements for court summonses.Gov. Bruce Rauner has signed Senate Bill 2432, which amends the Code of Civil Procedure to say that a court’s jurisdiction is not affected by technical errors in a summons.The measure, approved by the legislature this spring, is a direct response to a line of cases holding that such a document must “name a person on its face” in order to comply with due process.
