SPRINGFIELD — Rep. Kelly Cassidy and Sen. Heather Steans both introduced identical bills to legalize recreational marijuana in 2017. Now that pro-legalization Gov. J.B. Pritzker is in office, recreational cannabis could arrive in Illinois by May.House Bill 2353 permitted the recreational use and commercialization of marijuana for adults 21 and over.
