Employer hit with most of $5M injury payout

After a jury verdict found an employer 52 percent liable in a personal-injury case, the company appealed and got a new trial.This time, jurors found them 92.5 percent at fault, leaving Summit Fire Protection Co. responsible for more than $4.6 million of a $5 million settlement.In the underlying lawsuit, a man sustained back injuries in 2007 when he tripped over exposed electrical conduit while working at a Walmart store construction site in Joliet.Frank Barnai settled his negligence case in 2015 for more than $5 million …
