Bill looks to expunge records after acquittals, dismissals

SPRINGFIELD — In an instance of acquittal or dismissal, Illinoisans may still find themselves having a hard time getting work or a place to live due to the charges lingering on their record.But having those records expunged could help someone begin a normal life, according to Democratic Rep. La Shawn K. Ford of Chicago. That lead Ford to sponsor House Bill 49.The bill provides charges that have resulted in acquittal or dismissal with prejudice may be expunged after the final deposition of a case. Upon entry of …
