SPRINGFIELD — Illinois lawmakers are considering changes to jury selection that would prevent peremptory challenges to potential jurors based on their sexual orientation.The 1986 landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Batson v. Kentucky, ruled the exclusion of jurors based on race was a violation of the Constitution’s Sixth and 14th Amendments.
