A Cook County jury awarded more than $23.5 million to a young girl who was born with brain damage after sustaining hours of fetal distress during delivery.A verdict was reached Friday following two days of deliberation after a monthlong trial before Circuit Judge Lorna E. Propes.On Dec. 8, 2014, Marquita Snow-Whiten, then 36 weeks pregnant, was admitted at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital on the city’s North Side with abdominal pain.After 24 hours of testing and observation, Snow-Whiten was discharged.
